Jubilee Beacon - The Croud

The weather stayed dry and ensured a good turnout for the lighting of the Jubilee Beacon.  A steady stream of people congregated on the top of Haytor to witness the lighting of the beacon.

Other beacons could be seen at Widdecombe and Hennock with many firework parties also visible.  A very atmospheric evening and well worth the walk to the top of the Tor.

Teen Sheltor

Ilsington Parish Council has installed a Teen Shelter in Little Meadow Playpark.  This is the first phase of a Youth Group initiative which has been facilitated by the Parish Council and is centred on Old Liverton Village.

This shelter will provide Teenagers with a place to meet and socialise in a safe and controlled area.  It will be policed by the local PCSO officer who has also attended the Youth Group meetings.

We now have all the funds in place for this project, and are planning to start the building works at the end of January.  The construction phase of the project will last approximately five months, with anticipated completion by mid-June.  During the building works, access to the village hall and the car park will be restricted.  The new extension will be located on the play park end of the hall, close to the road. We are discussing arrangement with the Pre-school, and hope to maintain existing Post Office hours.

Tor Homes, working in Partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency and Teignbridge District Council have completed a development of new affordable homes to rent in Old Liverton.  The 11 houses available comprise 7 two bedroom houses, 3 three bedroom houses and 1 four bedroom house.

The site is part of the former pottery in the centre of Old Liverton and is adjacent to the existing development at Pottery Yard completed some years ago.  Cavanna Homes built the eleven properties for Tor Homes which were completed just before Christmas 2010.  All 11 are now occupied and the Parish Council are delighted that such a development was able to be provided in this location offering genuine affordable quality homes for those in the Parish.
